Why is using default.html or default.aspx bad?

My guess would be that it's too generic a name. What does default.html or default.aspx mean? That's when I use the home pages name as the default name. For example, Welcome.html or about-us.html ... That could be the reason? I just stay away from meaningless names. Hope that helps
