Why do people assume that if you don't believe in Jesus that you don't believe in God?

It's obvious that we are created. The whole Christ thing is a man made mass delusion, with all the facts we have today contradicting old belief, I'm surprised that anyone still believe it as actual fact. So why do so many people think if you don't believe the Jesus story that you don't believe in creation?
