I have a question about the Christian creation story?

Or should i say "stories"? I just reread Genesis 1 and 2 and i'm basically wondering right now if i'm just not understanding what i read or if there really are two different creation stories...In genesis 1 God creates night and day, the sky, earth and water, the sun and the stars, animals and both Adam and Eve at the same time. In genesis 2 however, Adam is created first, followed by all the other animals and then Eve...What does that mean? Which story is the right one?
